REFLECTION
Experience :
Throughout these 14 weeks, I felt more comfortable doing the typography works compared to first semester as I was really struggling working with Adobe and new tools. Although the challenge is harder because we are now working on a different level of work compared to our first semester it really challenges our ability to analyze and improve our own independently. I experienced that I was more comfortable getting feedback from Mr Vinod as well and not be shy to ask again if unsure which I think is really important as we might misinterpret his words. I also felt that I spent less time waiting and depending on Mr Vinod's feedback and more time on analyzing and understanding my own work.
Observation :
I observed that quite a lot of our work is actually is the same as seniors which I did not really like because a lot of us tend to get influenced and start our project at the wrong starting point. When our decisions get heavily influenced, we tend to stray away from our own creativity and point of view and this delays our work or our work end up totally different than what we could have possibly achieve. Besides that, I also observed that sometimes we tend to online message Mr Vinod frequently for his feedback as there are a lot of times where we did not have class.
Findings :
Throughout these 14 weeks I found out that it is important to have more time to research and know what you want to do first before jumping straight into work. Besides that I also found out that although it is good to get feedback from Mr Vinod but we should stop overly depending on his feedback especially now we are in the second semester of working with typography. Not just that, it is also important to understand your topic first before doing your work. I found out that for the troublemakers project, a lot of my classmates works were similar to seniors in the beginning and they focused so much on the troublemakers aspect in the beginning and forgotten the element of design. After getting feedback, they then ended up focusing too much on the different things and not properly understand the troublemakers manifesto term.
Suggestion :
I suggest that Mr Vinod can open a face-to-face consultation session out of class for the students to meet him for feedback instead of having to constantly flood his Facebook for feedback. Besides that, for project 1 which a lot of students struggled on, Mr Vinod could refer it as a logo (if possible) so that students would understand the task easier and also show how the artwork is supposed to work on different collaterals so students won't confuse it as a poster design which most of my classmates did. The mind map for brainstorming ideas was really good in my opinion and I think Mr Vinod can conduct that with the students during the briefing of the project 1 to help the students on their project.
