PROJECT 2
THE TROUBLEMAKERS MANIFESTO COLLOQUIUM - COLLATERAL
After completing my key artwork, I start applying my artwork on different collateral. The collateral I chose are poster, T-shirt, tote bag and also we were required to create a microsite as well.
Poster Design :
Feedback : Mr Vinod said the arrangement of the content at the bottom are interesting but I need to consider whether if the readers could connect the right timings with the speakers. He suggested that just placing the content across at the bottom of the poster would do.
After printing the poster out, I realized the elements on top seemed rather messy and Mr Vinod said my Troublemakers Manifesto already interplay the letters and I do not have to interplay with my contents already.
Feedback : Mr Vinod told me to remove the lines at the bottom.
I have decided to redesign it as I still think it is quite messy and certain aspects could be further improved.
Feedback : Mr Vinod asked me to reduce the opacity of the texture.
After getting some feedback, the words seemed too random and messy and some colour would look nice on the shirt instead of black and white.
After reviewing my shirt, I wish to maintain some randomness in the words to showcase the troublemakers.
Tote bag design :
I separated the type and key artwork for my tote bag design and played around with different compositions for my tote bag.
Mr Vinod commented that my type can still be explored and adding some words with the key artwork would look nice too. So I added "A design colloquium" which is placed like a pencil on the hand of the key artwork.
My second attempt of the type still felt rigid and awkward as Mr Vinod said type are usually kept horizontal on tote bags instead of vertical. I changed my type to a more simpler design and reduce the amount of play as well.

FEEDBACK
Week 8 :
General Feedback:
Mr Vinod said that we should work in A2 size artboard for our poster because if we start with a smaller artboard, the design would be different when we enlarge it.
Specific feedback :
Mr Vinod said for my tote bag design, I could play with the letters a bit more and for the artwork I could probably add "A design colloquium" with the artwork.
For my poster, Mr Vinod said the artwork is good and when I add the details , I con add in the white spaces and also make sure my font size is 16pt or 18pt and not too small.
Week 9 :
General Feedback:
Mr Vinod told us that as we are in advanced typography, we need to start being independent and knowing how to look into our own work. Besides that, we should start working on our final project soon because it takes a high amount of research and thinking into our final project. We will not be looking from a student's perspective anymore but looking in to enhance the current solutions professionally.
Specific feedback :
Mr Vinod said my t-shirt design is done. He said that the words for the tote bag design can be larger. Then he commented that for my poster i can just put the content in a straight line, I don't have to interplay with my artwork again. He also told me to remove the extra elements as it would disturb the key artwork, so it's better just leave the text as it is.

This book has a collection of about 500 exquisite designs, along with essays from top designers about the essence and importance of good typography in design, Design/Type is an insightful book filled with mini-workshops that dissect several featured projects and highlight the effectiveness of the type treatments. I really enjoyed the content of this book.

REFLECTION
Week 8 :
- Experience - It was quite a fun experience for me designing my own collateral and such. Although I was quite stressed out and tired because I didn't really like my key artwork honestly. The artwork looks good on it's own but when I tried placing the artwork into other mediums I struggled trying to add other elements into the work.
- Observations - I observed that most of my friends are still working on project 1 and still quite confused with the meaning of troublemakers manifesto. I also observed that if you have a good key artwork it is easier to implement on other mediums and still able to convey the message which I am really envious of.
- Findings - I realized that having critical friends are really great because they give really honest feedback and it was really helpful to me. I also realized that I couldn't progress much on my project 2 because I was just really not confident with my key artwork and at the same time I was so drained out by the amount of assignments to do. I realized that if you're mentally worn out, no matter how late you stay up, you still won't progress much in your work.
- Experience - It has been a really stressful week to me and I couldn't really progress on my collateral. I have been reviewing different samples but still I was completely lost in my work. I have decided to ask my friends for opinions and try to slowly work from there. I got quite an amount of feedback and it really helped me to move forward in my project.
- Observations - I realized that a lot of my classmates really struggled with this assignment as even until week 9 some still have not completed their key artwork. Besides that I also observed that ever since my classmates got their feedback from Mr Vinod, their artwork starts to lose the troublemaker aspect in their design but instead focus too much on the design aspect of the artwork.
- Findings - I found out that often time we listen to Mr Vinod's comment and depends entirely on his comments and feedback too often. This causes us to fail to analyse and understand our own artwork. Besides that I also realized that having a good and flexible key artwork is really crucial as really make or break your future work when you try to apply on different mediums.
