REFLECTION
Experience:
This module was definitely one of the heavier ones as there are much more things to do in this module compared to others. I was a little disappointed halfway through the module as I did not know the initial 3 choices of jobs would actually be the main brand for the entire module. I was a little bit discouraged as I thought it was just a fun exercise but not understanding that it would be such a major decision. However I did enjoy the process of the module as I definitely learnt alot especially from my friends. It was a little bit stressful as I was not doing as well as I want to when I compare my work to my classmates. This definitely pushed me to work harder and learnt a lot more than I expected.
Observation:
I observed that I started taking more notice on local brands and the branding studios we have in Malaysia which actually surprised me. I was not very aware of such branding studios in Malaysia and I did not knew that the standard of branding in Malaysia is actually better than I expected. I started observe and notice more in the details and rules that exist in the field of branding and how it's more than just the standard colour and use for it. I definitely started to be more aware in small details such as the consistency of designs in a brand.
Findings:
I found out that this module definitely taught me a lot about branding. Not only I started to understand the rationales and reasoning behind the existing logo designs I also started realizing the importance of understanding what should be maintained and written down for a brand guidelines. I definitely found out alot about branding and understood about the process behind designing a logo. I realized that a really good reference and sample is important for me to understand what is needed to be included in a brand book. Without the references from my friends I definitely would have not achieve a better standard in my work.
Lastly I'm really grateful that Ms Low goes through the hassle to provide us lengthy feedbacks for each of us. Her feedbacks were really thorough and helped us in improving the quality of our works. She was definitely helpful in introducing us a various sorts of studios in Malaysia and also resources in Design and Typeface which not just helped in this module but others as well.
