FEEDBACK

Week 2:

General feedback: Miss suggested us to look into more local brands as well instead of just focusing on international brands. We also can look into the brand history behind it and the story behind the logo as well.

Specific feedback: The analysis done on the logo was detailed and I looked a lot into the design of the logos. It is also great that I included local brands like Maybank and done my research about it.

Week 3:

General feedback: Miss advised us to use point form and simplify the points next time to make our slides easier to read.

Specific feedback: The analysis done was very detailed. Miss said I am very analytical and sees small details in the logo design. I also did my research and understand the brand itself as well.

Week 4:

Specific feedback: Miss mentioned that my analysis are precise and good. It would be better if I could structure my content better into point form so that it is easier to read.

Week 5:
Specific feedback: Miss mentioned that it is good that I was able to see the design thinking behind the logo and think rationally about the design.

REFLECTION

Experience:

The logo analysis started out really hard because there's still a lot of confusion around what to write and not knowing where to start. Having to go through 20 logos every week is not easy either, it actually did took quite a toll on my schedule and workload as I myself takes quite a long time to analyse designs and typing it out.

Observation:
I observed that my observation from the beginning was very much based on what the internet has said and only I try to extract whatever is leftover from the observation. But now I am able to look at the logo and try to understand more than the logo design but also the design intention and try to find the relevance between the logo and the brand itself.

Findings:
I found out that most of my friends often miss out some details in the logo design or focused too much on the brand story that they missed out some key elements in the design actually. I also realized there are a lot of logo designs and types of logo but often time there seem to have a repeating trend or repeated element which can be commonly found in similar brands.

FURTHER READING

Logo Modernism by Jens Muller and R. Roger Remington

This book is a really deatiled book which collects approximately 6,000 trademarks to examine how modernist attitudes and imperatives gave birth to corporate identity. It ranges from media outfits to retail giants, airlines to art galleries, the sweeping survey is organized into three design-orientated chapters: Geometric, Effect, and Typographic. Each chapter is then sub-divided into form and style led sections such as alphabet, overlay, dots and squares.
