EXERCISES
Good Shot
For our first exercise, Mr Martin taught us to basics of Adobe Premier Pro such as editing and compiling short clips together into one video. The shots were taken by our previous seniors and it was to recreate a short scene from a movie.
Then, we were tasked to shorten the video into 50 seconds under the guidance of Mr Martin.
Here is the final outcome of the video.
3 Stop Motion Videos
1. The Deep- PES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK18bdUEWSs
I like how although all the elements used in the stop motion video are metallic objects, but it was able to move so fluid and alive like actual underwater animals. It is able to tell how each animal moves and interact with each other. The sounds used in this video other than the water sounds are all made from metallic objects. Even so, it sounded as if it were sound made by animals in real life. The lightning also creates a sense of depth showing that it is deep underwater and not shallow. All these elements put together creates a illusion that as if we were watching an underwater marine life documentary.
2. Isle of Dog -Sushi Scene
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBa2_Q-ciI0
I like the complexity of this scene. Although it is just a simple sushi preparation scene, there were alot of details included in the scene like how the fish and the octopus tail moves, how the sushi chef angles and cut the sushi. The stop motion felt so real as if it was animated but not a stop motion scene. The props were all also custom made and each replicates real life objects well.
3. The Nintendoe Paper by Ryan Higa
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tugFFhML7VY
starts at 3:23
For this video I chose it because it was just really simple and creative. All it took really is just paper folded into other things and interacting in the house. Yet it was able to include so much dynamic and drama. It was able to move from a 2D perspective to a 3D perspective and show the games and how playful it was. The storyline was also showing the world of gaming specifically Nintendo franchise games, which evolves from 8-bit games to now 3D perspective games and how his mock version of "Nintendoe Paper" interacts with the Nintendo Labo which is made from cardboards.
My stop motion IDEA is a story with a unique and deep story line . I will do mixed medium such as everyday objects and mix with clay. The VISUAL STYLE is like Farbenspiel: stop motion animated short https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQb7io3dCjo.
The selling point/I like the most of my stop motion project is the exaggeration factors where it is unable to be replicated in real life to be shown in the stop motion video. By mixing different mediums and making use of illusions, I could replicate interesting scenes in animation which can only be portrayed with stop motion.
Cinematography
For this exercise, we were taught about how there are different shots used in cinematography.
Then we were required to shoot a 5-second video using our phone camera based on the references shown below. We were then told to compile all the shots together into one video.
