DATA COLLECTION
For our data collection, we looked into five aspects of rebel in Tokyo
1. Focus group interview with 3 students from Tokyo University of Technology
2. Visual Analysis of Graffiti
3. Visual Analysis of Stickers
4. Visual Analysis of Subculture fashion
5. Interview and visual analysis of Tokyo Rockabilly
Data collection in Tokyo:
Focus Group Interview:
For our interview, we had a discussion with 3 students from Tokyo University of Technology. We asked their opinions about rebels and subcultures and also showed some stickers and graffiti to ask their opinion about it.
Graffiti & Stickers:
We looked around Tokyo for graffitis and stickers and it was surprisingly easy to find everywhere if you look properly. It is often seen in poles and vending machines but surprisingly not in toilets and not on places if there are warnings about no stickers.
Subculture Fashion:
We looked around Harajuku to see the subculture fashion and we realized that they don't allow pictures and are really hostile towards outsiders. We also realized that most of the outfits can be purchased in shops.
Tokyo Rockabilly:
For the Tokyo Rockabilly, we went to Yoyogi Park on Sunday to see the Tokyo Rockabillies. We were lucky to be able to interview one of them as well for more information.
